💵 Budgeting and junior golf
If I had to guess, you rarely use the term "budget" in the same sentence as "junior golf." Opening up our kids to the world of
golf is not a cheap endeavor, but after years of juggling and trying to squeeze every savings possible out of my son's tournament schedule, I do have a few tips.
I've found there's good news and bad news when it comes to budgeting for junior golf. The good news is, you can plan ahead. Rarely do you have eleventh-hour
additions to the schedule, unless they earn a last-minute spot into a tournament or invitational. Even then, you may be aware of the possibility several weeks ahead of time.
The bad news is, it doesn't get any less expensive as they get older. For us now, it's the tournament fees and the travel that can get hard to
juggle, but when our son was younger it was the equipment that was the larger expense. No matter what stage you're in, make sure you check out the latest on the Junior Golf Playbook blog and get ideas for
saving.
